According to his aide quoted by PTI, Kirodi Lal Meena, a BJP leader, resigned from his position as Rajasthan Cabinet minister following the party’s poor performance in his Lok Sabha constituencies.
The 72-year-old leader resigned following his party’s loss of seats, including in his hometown of Dausa, a pledge made during Lok Sabha election campaigning.
Meena posted a verse from the Ramcharitmanas on social media platform X, stating, ‘Raghukul Reeti Sada Chali Aai, Pran Jaai Par Bachan Na Jaai’

‘Kirodi Meena tendered his resignation as minister ten days ago to the chief minister,’ the aide confirmed.
Meena, serving as the minister for agriculture, rural development, disaster management, and relief in the cabinet, vowed to step down if BJP lost any of the seven Lok Sabha seats he campaigned for.
He campaigned across eastern Rajasthan, covering Dausa, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Karauli, Alwar, Tonk-Sawai Madhopur, and Kota-Bundi. However, the BJP secured victories only in Kota and Alwar Lok Sabha seats.
On June 3, just before the vote count, Kirodi Lal Meena mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had entrusted him with the responsibility for seven seats in eastern Rajasthan, where he put in significant effort.
‘Before the Prime Minister visited Dausa, I had pledged that if our party didn’t win the Dausa seat, I would resign as minister. Subsequently, the PM assigned me responsibility for 7 seats. I focused intensely on these 7 seats among the 11 I campaigned on. If our party lost any of those 7 seats, I committed to stepping down from my ministerial post’ Meena stated.
