A horrific road accident claimed the lives of at least 17 people in Rangareddy district of Telangana as a tipper lorry carrying gravel hit an RTC bus near Chvella and overturned. Rescue operations are ongoing at the scene with JCBs. The injured are being taken to a local hospital for treatment, and the condition of many of teh passengers is presently critical. The incident took place in the early hours of Monday morning at Mrijaguda in Chevella mandal.
The express bus, belonging to the Tandur depot, was heading to Hyderabad when a tipper carrying a load of gravel sped past and ended up hitting the bus. After the initial impact, the tipper toppled over the bus, and the entire load of gravel fell onto it. The front of the bus also sustained severe damage and was destroyed due to the collision. The tipper driver was trapped in the cabin and died on the spot.

Hyderabad Telangana CMO- CM-Revanth Reddy expressed grief over the road accident- Authorities launched rescue operations after receiving information about the incident. Those buried under the debris and rubble are being pulled out and taken to the hospital. According to local authorities, 17 people succumbed to their injuries after the crash. Rescue operations are ongoing, and the death toll is likely to rise as many of the injured are in critical condition.
Preliminary investigations of the accident have revealed that the tipper driver was speeding, lost control after an initial impact, toppled over the bus, and crashed. The severity of the accident further increased as the massive load of gravel fell onto the passengers.
According to a report by Sakshi.com, more than 70 people were on the bus at the time of the accident. Due to the immense weight of both vehicles, they became lodged into each other, and efforts are being made to pull the passengers out of the gravel.
The accident has also led to a traffic jam on the Chevella–Vikarabad–Bijapur highway. Authorities are currently working to clear the traffic.
Witnessing the damage and the accident that took place in the Rangareddy district, Prime Minister Modi announced that Ex-Gratia of Rs 2 Lakh from PMNRF will be given to the next of kin of each deceased. And the injured will be given Rs 50,000
