Kerala Youth Congress President Rahul Mamkootathil stepped down from his position following multiple allegations made by women in recent days. The Palakkad MLA shared his decision with journalists during a press conference at his Adoor residence on Wednesday. Addressing the media, Rahul claimed the accusations against him were a calculated move to shift focus from recent charges leveled against the LDF government.
He explained that he was resigning, not because he did anything wrong, but because he didn’t want to waste the time of party workers who weren’t responsible for defending him. He also mentioned that it was his duty to prove his innocence, and he planned to do so. “I will deal with these accusations on my own,” he added. Rahul pointed out that none of the women who made accusations mentioned his name or filed any complaint against him. “No fake complaint has been made against me,” he said. He also stated that anyone who has allegations against him should file a formal complaint and go to court. He emphasized that he would only answer the allegations if someone filed an official complaint.
Who Is Rini Ann George?
Rini Ann George is an Actress, model, and former journalist. Rini Ann George claimed that the politician had repeatedly sent her offensive messages over the past few years. She said that the youth preseident of a political party of Kerala used to send offensive messages which include inviting her to a 5-star hotel booked by him. Addressing the media in Kochi on August 20, Rini, without identifying the politician, stated that his indifferent attitude was evident in his remark, “Who cares.”
She also claimed that several other women have had similar experiences. She said that he had sent her obscene messages, but she ignored them at the time and did not consider it a big issue, which is why she chose not to file a police complaint. However, when she recently saw that he was facing other allegations, she realised that other women were going through the same experience. Since no one had spoken about it openly, she felt it was her responsibility to come forward and share her story.
Rini also went on to confirm on one of the television channels that the young politician has now become an MLA. Rini claimed that the leader deliberately kept up a false public image to mislead people. When reporters asked if she was talking about Palakkad Congress MLA Rahul Mamkottathil, she avoided giving a clear answer.
Writer Honey Bhaskaran also came forward with allegations against Rahul Mamkootathil through a Facebook post. She claimed that the MLA had sent her repeated messages on social media. While their initial conversation was about travel, she soon realized that he had no intention of stopping, so she chose not to respond further.
