Kerala: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed his wife after setting fire to the car she was traveling in Chemmammukku, Kollam on Tuesday evening, police said. The 44-year-old woman, a native of Kottiyam Thazhutala was inside the vehicle with a young man named Soni, who escaped with burns.
According to reports, the accused husband identified as Padmarajan who was in his late 50s, allegedly chased his wife’s car, poured petrol on the vehicle, and set it ablaze around 9 pm. The victim woman succumbed to her injuries while on the way to the hospital, reports added.

The woman’s co-traveler is currently undergoing medical treatment at a hospital. Accused Padmarajan has been taken into police custody by the Kollam East Police and is being interrogated. Padmarajan who reportedly runs a catering service killed his wife over a family dispute, police added.
In yet another similar incident, the driver of a container truck was allegedly burnt alive after his vehicle caught fire after ramming into a road divider in Balasore’s Laxmannath area on Sunday, November 24. Jaleswar Police and firefighters arrived at the spot and brought the fire under control after about an hour, reports said.
