New Delhi: The Kerala High Court on Friday has stayed on the state-wide bandh called by the Popular Front of India (PFI).

The High Court has taken suo moto cognisance against the PFI leaders who had called for a protest without obtaining due permission. The court ruled that nobody can call for a bandh in the state without submitting prior notice.

It said the flash hartals deemed illegal. Hence, it has directed the police officials to take stringent action against the violators.

It has also ordered the police to ensure adequate measures to prevent any damage, destruction to public or private property of government and citizens who do not support the strike.

By calling the strike, the PFI wanted to show protest against the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) who conducted raids at its leaders’ residences.

The probe agencies started raids at Wednesday which also continued on Thursday. The teams had raided residences and offices of various PFI leaders. The probe agencies were accompanied by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel.

The search and seizure operations have caused tension in different parts of the central Kerala with the PFI activists carrying out a series of protests.
