New Delhi: Upholding the verdict of the Supreme Court, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan Sunday issued notices to vice-chancellors of a total number of nine universities to tender their resignation by October 24.
“Letters directing Vice Chancellors of 9 Universities of Kerala to tender their resignation by 11:30 am on 24 October 2022 have been issued. Letter also emailed to VCs and Registrars of varsities concerned,” said PRO, Kerala Raj Bhavan.
This comes after the Supreme Court on October 21 had cancelled the appointment of M.S. Rajasree as Vice-Chancellor of the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University in Kerala which sent shockwaves to the Pinarayi Vijayan government.
During the argument, the court found that the due UGC procedure was not followed while appointing Rajasree. The court was hearing a plea moved by P.S. Sreejith whose petition was earlier rejected by the Kerala High Court.

Meanwhile, the Governor had also objected as well as stopped the appointment of Priya Varghese in a teaching post at the Kannur University. Varghese’s spouse is the private secretary to Vijayan.
Earlier in the day, the Left Front has announced to carry out a movement against the Kerala Governor for trying to destroy secular education.
