One shopkeeper from Srinagar shared with News24, “During Eid ul Fitr, we see a surge in customers looking for traditional Kashmiri attire. People want to look their best for the celebrations, and our shops are brimming with a variety of options to cater to their needs.”
The atmosphere during Eid ul Fitr is electrifying, as families come together to celebrate this joyous occasion. One enthusiastic shopper expressed, “It’s not just about shopping; it’s a time when families unite, and the entire community rejoices.”
Children, in particular, are filled with excitement as they partake in the festive preparations. Many little girls are making their way to henna markets, eager to adorn their hands and arms with intricate Mehandi designs. This age-old tradition adds a special touch to the celebrations, enhancing the festive spirit that fills the valley.
Two little sisters told News24 that they are excited for the upcoming Eid and have applied henna to look good for the festival. “We are preparing further by buying clothes and other things. Eid is special for us.”
This year, Eid ul Fitr is expected to be celebrated on Monday or Tuesday, next week depending on the sighting of the crescent moon following a month of fasting by Muslims.
