New Delhi: At the G20 summit in Srinagar, former CEO of NITI Aayog and Sherpa of G20 Amitabh Kant on Monday said that Kashmir is the best place for shooting film. He said that the Kashmir Valley has always attracted filmmakers because of its natural beauty, which has something for everyone.
A three-day Tourism Working Group meeting has begun in Kashmir.
Amitabh Kant said that Kashmir is not just a place, but a unique experience in itself. The beauty of Kashmir in itself increases manifold due to alpine forests and rivers etc. There is no better destination than Kashmir.
Amitabh Kant was addressing the delegates of G-20 countries at the side event of ‘Film Tourism for Economic and Cultural Conservation’ during the conference. The event is a part of the third Tourism Working Group meeting of G20 countries to be held in the city.
He said that we believe in peace and prosperity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes that tourism has a multiplier effect and is also a job-creating sector. The place is unique in itself, as no Bollywood film is complete without shooting in Kashmir. No romance in India is complete without Kashmir.
Referring to some popular films shot in Kashmir, he said Bobby-1973 (Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia starrer), which was shot in Gulmarg. He also mentioned films like Kashmir Ki Kali, Jab Jab Phool Khile. Amitabh said that many filmmakers go to Switzerland and other places for shooting, while many international films were shot in India.
