When it took flight, it had a trainee and a trainer on board. Due to a mechanical fault, the crew was forced to make an emergency landing between Honnihal and Mavinakatti villages. Villagers proceeded to the location after informing the Marihal police station.

The Belagavi airport grounds include two flight training facilities. They provide a variety of courses, including conversion flying, simulator flying, commercial pilot training, and technical courses like multi-engine rating and radiotelephony.
