A 51-year-old man allegedly raped her 16-year-old daughter and impregnated her. The police arrested the accused. The incident reportedly took place in Karnataka’s Gadag.
Doctors confirmed victim’s pregnancy after tests
According to PTI, the girl’s mother took her to the doctor after she complained of swelling in her legs. The doctors conducted tests examined her, and told the victim’s mother that she was 31 weeks pregnant.
When the girl’s mother questioned her, she revealed that her father had sexually assaulted her for the past year when no one was present at the home. A senior police officer said that the man had also threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone in the family.
Victim’s mother lodged police complaint
The victim’s mother lodged a complaint with Mulagund police station. After registering an FIR, the police arrested the man on April 8. The police registered the case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Police will take decision after thorough medical examination
The senior officer said a decision would be taken after a thorough medical examination. The girl will also be given counselling, the police said. The victim has a 22-year-old sister and five-year-old younger brother. The victim’s sister works as a nurse. The police have launched a detailed probe into the matter.
Woman sexually assaulted by men in Bengaluru
Last week, a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by two men in Bengaluru, near Mahadevpur area on April 2, said an official on April 3.
Taking swift action, the Bengaluru Police arrested the accused for allegedly sexually assaulting the woman while she was going to a hotel for food with her brother.
According to the police, the incident occurred on the outskirts of Mahadevpur police station limits of outer ring road, near Laurie Memorial School when two auto rickshaw drivers attacked the brother of the lady and allegedly raped her.
