A 21-year-old woman was reportedly kidnapped and raped by a man she had connected with on social media in Udupi district, Karnataka, on Friday night. The suspect, identified as Altaf, had been in contact with the victim for three months before the incident, according to police reports.

Accused Lured Victim and Allegedly Drugged Her

As per the complaint, Altaf called the victim to a specific location where he kidnapped her in a white car. He then gave her a beer bottle laced with an intoxicant, which he allegedly used to incapacitate the woman before sexually assaulting her. Police have arrested Altaf, along with his friend Severa Richard Cardosa, who is accused of providing the beer bottle. Karkala police have seized two cars used in the incident as part of their ongoing investigation. Both Altaf and Cardosa have been arrested and charged with kidnapping, rape, and other serious offenses.

Political Fallout: BJP Criticizes Congress Government

The incident has sparked a political controversy, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongly condemning the Congress government in Karnataka. BJP leaders have claimed that Hindus are unsafe under the current government and demanded strict action.

BJP Leaders Demand Action

Karnataka’s Leader of Opposition, R. Ashoka, criticized the Congress government, citing a series of similar incidents. He urged the government to take the matter seriously, accusing them of ignoring the safety of Hindus. BJP MLA V. Sunil Kumar echoed these sentiments, calling the crime a “premeditated act” and insisting that the entire gang involved should be identified and punished.

The investigation into the case is ongoing, with further developments expected.
