Karnataka elections 2023: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may announce the names of the candidates for the Karnataka assembly elections in the meeting to be held on April 9. Party sources said the BJP’s Central Election Committee is likely to meet at the party office on April 9 to finalize the candidates for the Karnataka assembly polls.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP General Secretary BL Santosh and members of the party’s Central Election Committee will be present in the meeting.
Shortlist 3 names for each assembly
According to party sources, the BJP’s core group in Karnataka has shortlisted three names for each assembly seat, which will be placed before the Central Election Committee. The central leadership of the party will brainstorm these names before finalizing the candidates.
Let us tell you that the core group of BJP in Karnataka had prepared a shortlist of candidates in a meeting on April 4 with the party’s national general secretary Arun Singh, state election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan, co-in-charge Mansukh Mandaviya, Central Election Committee member Annamalai . Former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and current CM Basavaraj Bommai were also present in the meeting.

In the last assembly election, the BJP had emerged as the single largest party by winning 104 seats, while the Congress won 80 and the JD(S) 37. Assembly elections in Karnataka will be held in a single phase on May 10, with the counting of votes taking place on May 13.

Congress veteran KH Muniyappa has got the ticket from Devanahalli assembly constituency. Karnataka Pradesh Congress President DK Shivakumar will contest from Kanakapura. Karnataka Congress working president Ramalinga Reddy will contest from BTM Layout and his daughter Sowmya Reddy will contest from Jayanagar in Bengaluru.
