New Delhi: In its first meeting on Monday, the Karnataka Cabinet issued orders to implement the five guarantees in the state that were promised by the Congress, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Talking to media person in Vidhan Sabha, CM Siddaramaiah said, “Five guarantees in the manifesto were promised and the order for the implementation of those five guarantees was given after the first cabinet meeting. All will be in force after next cabinet meeting which will be called within a week.”
As per the Chief Minister, the estimated cost to implement the scheme will be Rs 50,000 crore per annum.
The Chief Minister has issued order to implement Gruha Lakshmi scheme after the first meeting of the state Cabinet of the newly-formed government in Karnataka.
The scheme will provide financial assistance of Rs 2,000 a month to every woman head of household in Karnataka.
In its manifesto, the grand-old party made five promises:
- Gruha Jyothi: Free electricity up to 200 units
- Gruha Lakshmi: Rs 2,000 every month to the female head of every household
- Anna Bhagya: Free 10 kg rice per person per month to BPL families
- Yuva Nidhi: Rs 3,000 per month for every unemployed graduate and Rs 15,000 per month for every unemployed diploma holder
- Shakti: Free bus travel for every woman across the state

In a grand event in Karnataka today, recently-elected cabinet ministers along with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his Deputy DK Shivakumar took oath. In a public’s verdict on May 13, Congress made an absolute majority in the Assembly by winning 135 seats.
The votes for the same casted on May 10. Congress replaced the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dispensation led by senior leader Basavraj Bommai, who took the full responsibility for the defeat in the 2023 Karnataka Assembly Polls.
