New Delhi: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday presented the 14th budget in Bengalaur’s Vidhan Sabha and announced that the excise duty on liquor will be increased by 20 per cent.
Along with that, Additional Excise Duty (AED) on Indian-origin foreign liquor (IMFL) will also be raised by 20 per cent.
AED on beer increased by 10 per cent to 185, previously it was 175. Further, the Chief Minister announced taxing 20 per cent on all of the 18 slabs of excise.
Presenting the seventh state budget, CM Siddaramaiah announced the state budget of Rs 3,27,747 crore. Of which, Rs 2,50,933 has been allocated to revenue expenditure, Rs 54,373 crore has been given for capital expenditure and Rs 22,441 crore to repay the loans.

Adding further, Siddaramaiah addressed fund allocations for the five poll guarantees of the Congress that it made during the recently-held Assembly Elections in May. In its manifesto, Congress promised to invest Rs 52,000 cr to spend annually benefitting nearly 1.3 crore families.
CM Siddaramaiah also stated that through five guarantees, the Congress-led Karnataka government will provide additional financial aid of Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 a month to each household.
The guarantees include 200 units of free power, monthly assistance of Rs 2,000 to the woman head of each family, 10kg free distribution of rice to every member of a Below Poverty Line (BPL), allowance of Rs 3,000 to every unemployed graduate youth, Rs 1,500 to unemployed diploma holder between the ages of 18 and 25 for a period of two years and free travel for women in public transport buses. The schemes under the five poll guarantees are expected to benefit about 1.3 crore families.
