Karnataka: Belagavi Trader’s Nose Chopped Off After Dispute Over Shop Setup

A trader wanted to set up his shop on the pavement in Khade Bazaar's Khanjar Galli, but the other trader opposed it. A heated exchange ensued between the two which later turned into a violent clash.

In a shocking incident, a trader’s nose was chopped off in Karnataka’s Belagavi. The incident took place after a dispute turned violent between two traders.

A trader wanted to set up his shop on the pavement in Khade Bazaar’s Khanjar Galli, but the other trader opposed it. A heated exchange ensued between the two which later turned into a violent clash. 

According to an NDTV report, 42-year-old Sufiyan Pathan wanted to set up his shop on the pavement, but the accused, Ayan Desai, did not let him do so. A verbal spat took place between them. Desai took out a knife and chopped off his nose.

Another man also sustained injuries in the incident. Pathan was admitted to BIMS Hospital in Belagavi. The police registered a case and launched a probe into the matter. A manhunt has also been launched to nab the accused.
