New Delhi: Congress has filed a complaint against Union Home Minister who said there would be communal riots in the state if the grand-old-party comes to power.
Objecting the provocative comments, Congress leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala, Dr Parmeshwar and Chief of Karnataka Congress DK Shivakumar filed a complaint in Bengaluru’s High Grounds police station against Union Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Shah.
The grand-old party has alleged that Shah made “provocative statements, promoting enmity and hatred and maligning opposition” in a public rally during campaigning for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly Polls 2023.
Talking to press person here, Congress chief of Karnataka unit Shivakumar said, “Union Home Minister has said that if Congress comes to power then there will be communal riots. How can he say this? We have filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India on this.”

Apart from Amit Shah, Congress filed the complaint against concerned BJP leaders and the organisers of the rally at Vijaypura and other locations in Karnataka on April 25.
The complaint read, “Speech given by Amit Shah was shockingly riddled with flagrantly false statements aimed at tarnishing the image of Indian National Congress by levelling false and unfounded allegations, with a clear objective of trying to create an atmosphere of communal disharmony amongst the gathered crowd and the individuals viewing it on other media platforms.”
