Karnataka Assembly Election 2023: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has targeted the Congress. He said that as soon as elections come, Congress showers more love for Lingayat voters. Bommai claimed that Lingayat voters in Karnataka are ‘alert’ and always take the right decision when required. The CM also accused the Congress of implementing the divide and rule policy for Lingayats and Veerashaivas.
Bommai further claimed that the development of the Lingayat community was due to the BJP government. The BJP developed both the Lingayat-dominated Kalyan and Kittur areas and ensured social justice in the area. Bommai said that this time the BJP will win more seats than in the 2018 assembly polls.
BJP candidate Karjol stand
Before filing his nomination on Tuesday, BJP candidate Govind Karjol said the Congress party had opposed reservation for Lingayats. It had opposed its inclusion in 2A category in 2009 and rejected it in 2016.
Govind Karjol said that the present BJP government had created a separate Category 2D and increased the quota for Lingayats. He said that Congress leaders opposed every development of Lingayats. No one has forgotten the ‘Jilebi’ file clearance that took place in the Siddaramaiah government.
Nadda targets Congress
BJP President JP Nadda also attacked the Congress. He accused former Karnataka CM and senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah of being the patron of the PFI. Nadda had said in Hubli that former Congress chief minister Siddaramaiah had withdrawn cases against PFI, released 1,700 PFI workers from jail, Siddaramaiah is their patron. Let us inform that the Center had banned the Popular Front of India (PFI) in September last year.
