Kanpur: At least eight people were injured after a powerful blast rocked Kanpur's Misri Bazaar late in the evening on Wednesday. According to reports, the explosion occurred near Markaz Masjid in two parked scooters, creating chaos and panic in the area. The injured were immediately taken to the Hospital for medical treatment. Some are reported to be critical.
There are no casualties in the tragic incident so far. Walls and ceilings of nearby shops are reported to be damaged. The Police, bomb disposal squads, and forensic teams reached the site promptly after the blast. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the explosion.

Police Commissioner Raghuveer Lal said that the blast is suspected to have been caused by firecrackers or some nefarious activities. "Forensic team, ATS, BDDS, and our officers are present at the scene... At first glance, this blast may have been caused by crackers or some nefarious activities," he said.

CP Lal further added, "At 1.15 am, an incident occurred in a toy market in Mishri Bazaar, Mulganj. Two scooters exploded. A shopkeeper, Abdullah's shop, was also damaged. This is a densely populated residential area of a particular community. A woman, a ragpicker, was seriously injured. Eight people were injured, four with minor injuries. Two have gone home. Two are under observation. Two have been referred to a higher centre in Lucknow. We have received information about two vehicles... One scooter is in the name of Ashwini Kumar, and he himself was injured... The second car is in the name of Vijender Rastogi. We have not been able to contact him yet..."
Officials are currently inspecting the scooters involved in the blast. Forensic, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, Anti-Terrorism Squad, and Special Task Force teams are at the site.
