Actress and Politician Kangana Ranaut has been seen promoting her upcoming film "Emergency", based on the 21 months tenure. Kangana portrays the Former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi.

Kangana met Priyanka Gandhi in the Parliament where she asked her to watch her movie "Emergency". The title of the movie and the trailer let the audience know that the film is based on the emergency declared by Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. This was the time she declared the emergency by citing the external and internal threats to India. This was the time between 1975 and 1977.

Speaking to IANS, Kangana mentioned that, "I actually met Priyanka Gandhi in the parliament. And the first thing I told her was, ‘You should watch the Emergency’. She was very gracious. She said, ‘Yeah may be’. So let's see if they would want to watch the film.”

Kangana in a small talk with the Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadha asked her to watch the film. Film is based on the grandmother of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadha And Rahul Gandhi.

Why Film Release Got Delayed?

The film was about to be released last year but got delayed due to several allegations made by multiple Sikh organizations. These groups claimed that the film misrepresented their community, as per media reports. Now finally the film has got the release date and will be seen in Cinema halls from January 17, 2025.

Speaking to IANS, Kangana also said that, "Being a three-time Prime Minister is not a joke. She was loved and celebrated."
