Kamleshwar Dodiya: MLA From Slum Says He Would Teach Chouhan His Job

Winning the Sailana assembly seat in Ratlam district stands as a testament to his relentless determination and noble intent. While contestants participating in elections spend a fortune, require public relations, opulent vehicles, and influence for their campaign, Kamleshwar Dodiyar emerges victorious in the absence of these luxuries. He lacks a lavish residence, a fleet of expensive cars, or substantial wealth. Instead, he garners the affection and trust of the people. Reports suggest Dodiyar contested the elections after securing a loan of Rs. 12 lakh, and residing in a humble hut.

Recently, a video of Dodiyar, riding a Hero Splendor bike adorned with ‘MLA,’ went viral on social media. At a time when even minor leaders cruise in extravagant SUVs, Dodiyar’s modest choice stands out.

His win acquires significance as the lone non-BJP-Congress MLA in the entire state. A tribal leader, Dodiyar pursued education at Delhi University and triumphed under the Bharat Adivasi Party’s banner from the tribal-dominated Sailana assembly seat, defying expectations by defeating the Congress candidate, leaving the BJP contender in third place.

Securing victory in his third attempt, Dodiyar’s earlier 2018 attempt garnered 18,726 votes. In the recent election, his overwhelming support soared to 71,219 votes, triumphing over the Congress candidate Harsh Vijay Gehlot by a margin of 4,618 votes. The BJP candidate, Sangeeta, trailed with only 41,584 votes. Celebrating his win, Dodiyar humbly arrived among his supporters in an auto.

Post-victory, Dodiyar pledged, “This victory belongs to the voters. They have scripted history in the Sailana Assembly by extending their unwavering support. I am committed to fulfilling their expectations, providing fundamental amenities, and scripting a new chapter of development in the area.”
