New Delhi: The Budget session of the Delhi Assembly will convene on March 17. Cabinet Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kailash Gahlot will present the budget of the Delhi government in the Assembly.
The last Budget (2022-23) in the Delhi assembly was presented on March 26, 2022. This would be the first when former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will not be tabelling the budget since 2015 as he recently gave up his portfolio from the Delhi Cabinet.
Along with Manish Sisodia, another prominent AAP leader Satyendar Jain also resigned from their posts last Sunday amid alleged criminal charges against both in seperate cases.
Earlier on Saturday, a Delhi court on March 4 extended the CBI custody of Manish Sisodia for another two days. Sisodia was arrested on February 26 due to his alleged involvement in the excise policy scam.
Meanwhile, arrested Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain has been accused in a money laundering case. Jain was arrested on May 30, 2022, under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act by the Enforcement Directorate and is presently in judicial custody in the case.
The ED had arrested the accused in the money laundering case based on a CBI FIR lodged against Jain in 2017 under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Jain is accused of having laundered money through four companies allegedly linked to him.Del
