Jammu and Kashmir: In a remarkable display of efficiency and dedication, authorities in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district successfully rescued several civilians trapped in 20 vehicles due to heavy snowfall on the Bandipora-Gurez Road. The rescue operation unfolded late last night after reports emerged of vehicles stranded at Razdan Pass and surrounding areas.
Officials confirmed that the administration acted promptly upon receiving distress signals from the stranded motorists. Teams comprising personnel from the local administration, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) were swiftly mobilized to the affected areas near Zadkhus Nallah and Razdan Top.
The Bandipora-Gurez road had been closed for traffic since the previous evening due to significant snowfall affecting the hilly terrain. By late last night, at least 20 civilian vehicles had become immobilized at Razdan Pass, facing challenging conditions due to heavy snow accumulation.
In a commendable response, the BRO’s 56 RCC/32 BRTF battalion deployed snow-clearing equipment throughout the night. Their relentless efforts paid off as they managed to clear the road by 5:00 AM, ensuring the safety of all trapped civilians.

The operation highlights the commitment of local authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in the region, especially during harsh winter conditions.
As roads in the region remain susceptible to closures due to inclement weather, officials urge travelers to exercise caution and stay updated on road conditions.
