J&K Polls 2024: All-Women Polling Station In Kishtwar Evokes Electoral Inclusivity

Amidst the polling in first phase of J&K Assembly elections, an all-women polling station in Kishtwar assembly constituency has come to light. Female voters have gathered in significant numbers to cast their votes at this polling station. The all-women polling station has been set up to empower women & strengthen their participation in election.

 Kishtwar District Administration on the directions of CEO J&K has set up an all-women polling station to increase the involvement of female voters. This polling station has female polling agents, police officers and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel. Kishtwar assembly constituency is voting in the first phase of J&K assembly elections.

This facility has made the electoral process smooth and easily accessible for women. By having a separate dedicated polling stations, female voters can come out of their house and cast their votes without any hesitation. Kishtwar District Election Officer Rajesh Kumar Shavan has ensured the smooth functioning of all women polling stations by appointing women Nodal officers and deploying women security personnel. The administration in overall has tried their best to assure maximum participation of women in the election.

Inclusivity in a society is one of the ethos of democracy and the concept of women centric polling station evokes the same. In 2024 Lok Sabha elections also, women-centric polling stations were set up across three Assembly constituencies: Inderwal, Kishtwar, and Paddar Nagseni. From here began the journey of electoral inclusivity which can be seen in assembly elections also.
