A 29-year-old Chinese national was questioned by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district for violating visa norms and travelling to the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh regions.
Chinese man was staying at a homestay
According to The Times of India report, the man was staying at a homestay and told police officials that he had visited the Zanskar region as a tourist.
He saw movies based on Kashmir
The Chinese national told interrogators that his father is a businessman in China and that he watched movies like The Kashmir Files and Article 370. He also showed interest in books on Kashmir, stating that he was looking for books on the region, including Curfewed Nights by Basharat Peer.
Chinese national may be summoned again
Later, the police officials released him, but he may be summoned again, and he could be deported back to China for violating visa norms.
As per reports, the man was given a visa to visit Buddhist places like Varanasi, Sarnath, Bodhgaya, New Delhi and Agra. On November 19, he travelled to Ladakh and did not register himself as a foreign tourist at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office at Leh airport.
