J&K: Indian Army Deploys High-Tech Vigilance In Snow-Covered Kashmir Mountains Amidst -12°C Ahead Of Republic Day

In addition to traditional surveillance methods, the army employs high-tech drones to monitor every corner of the border. Recently acquired silent drones, known as Hornets, have proven invaluable for capturing enemy movements without detection.

Jammu and Kashmir: As the nation celebrates its 76th Republic Day, Indian Army soldiers stationed along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir are courageously enduring severe weather conditions to ensure the safety and security of the country. With temperatures plummeting to -12°C and over six feet of snow blanketing the region at 12,000 feet, these soldiers remain steadfast in their duty.

In recent years, the Indian Army has undergone significant upgrades, focusing on making each camp along the LoC self-sufficient. This strategic initiative has not only curtailed terror activities but has also resulted in a remarkable reduction in infiltration attempts, bringing them down to zero. Such advancements have streamlined anti-terror operations, allowing soldiers to perform their duties with increased efficiency.

The News24 team provides an exclusive look at how Indian Army camps at the LoC are equipped with cutting-edge technology, advanced weaponry, and essential gear. Despite the harsh conditions, soldiers conduct daily patrols and maintain vigilance across the border. The government has played a crucial role in supporting these efforts by supplying the latest arms and ammunition, including state-of-the-art American and Israeli rifles.

Soldiers deployed in these challenging terrains undergo rigorous training to acclimatize to lower oxygen levels and extreme weather, including wind speeds reaching up to 80 km/h. Specially trained snipers are adept at operating under such conditions, often lying concealed beneath snow to ambush adversaries.

To facilitate swift movement across snow-covered areas, the Indian Army has been equipped with snow scooters and skis for patrols. These enhancements allow troops to respond quickly to any suspicious activity. In previous years, heavy snowfall would isolate forward posts; however, with the introduction of snow cutters and all-terrain vehicles, these posts remain accessible year-round.

Moreover, an Avalanche Rescue Team is stationed in the area, ready to assist not only army personnel but also local residents affected by avalanches or severe snowstorms.

Despite the challenges posed by both weather and potential infiltrators, these dedicated soldiers ensure that every national celebration is observed with pride. On this Republic Day, they will hoist the tricolor amidst the snow and frigid temperatures, honoring their commitment to the nation while embodying the spirit of resilience and patriotism.
