JK DGP Nalin Prabhat Makes Historic Visit To Lolab Valley, Strengthening Anti-Terror Operations In Kashmir

DGP interacted with personnel from both the JK Police’s SOG and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at the Special Operations Group (SOG) Camp in Lolab, commending their dedication and effectiveness in navigating the challenging terrain and hostile conditions.

The Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, made history on Sunday as the first police chief to tour the Lolab Valley, close to the Line of Control (LOC), an area long plagued by terrorism and unrest. During his visit, DGP Prabhat conducted an operational assessment of the ongoing anti-terrorist operations, evaluating the preparedness of ground forces engaged in counter-terrorism duties. “The need for sustained counter-insurgency pressure cannot be overstated,” DGP Prabhat said, calling for relentless efforts to neutralize Pakistani terrorists attempting to infiltrate and disrupt peace in the Kashmir Valley. His presence aimed not only to assess the law and order situation but also to boost the morale of local police forces, sending a clear message of zero tolerance for terror and violence.

Locals of Lolab Valley warmly welcomed DGP Prabhat’s visit, describing it as a positive and historic step. Many expressed gratitude for being acknowledged by top level officials, appreciating that he chose to visit in person rather than relying solely on reports from afar. This direct engagement is seen as a pivotal move to build trust between security forces and the people living in the far-flung area affected by terrorism, fostering a sense of safety and inclusion in a border area that has endured years of conflict.

Security experts said that this visit by the Police Chief is going to play a crucial role in reshaping Kashmir’s security strategy, which now emphasizes both vigilant oversight and genuine connection with the local people. The approach aims to cultivate an environment where people feel secure and involved in their own safety.

As part of ongoing efforts to bolster security, a series of counter-terror operations are currently underway across various districts in the Jammu region, including Rajouri, Poonch, Kishtwar, Doda, and Udhampur. Focused on the hinterlands, these operations leverage ground-level intelligence to direct troop movements effectively.

Reinforcements have been deployed in high-sensitivity areas, with enhanced night surveillance utilizing modern equipment. Measures have been implemented to block traditional infiltration routes used by terrorists in the Kashmir and Jammu regions, while strategies have been revised to prioritize night operations—denying terrorists opportunities to regroup or navigate the hill ranges.
