J&K Assembly Elections 2024 Live Update: BJP State Vice President Pawan Khajuria expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s recent decision, which angered workers and supporters. He stated that a party meeting was convened to discuss future course of actions, urging the party leadership to reconsider Udhampur East Candidate. He accused him of destroying the party and working against MP Jitendra Singh.
Earlier, the BJP candidate Sham Lal Sharma, running for the Jammu North Assembly constituency stated, “The BJP has consistently talked about Akhand Bharat and has delivered on its promises so far. The party is poised to form the government with an absolute majority in Jammu & Kashmir.’ RS Pathania, the candidate of the BJP from Udhampur East Assembly constituency of Jammu and Kashmir, thanked the party high command for assigning him the task.”

BJP MP Anurag Thakur accused Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, and Congress of wanting to abolish the PSA and release terrorists, drug peddlers, stone-pelters, and separatists. He suggested that their actions would regress J&K and questioned their reasons for supporting Pakistan. Thakur emphasized that the BJP is focused on peace, progress, and prosperity.
The BJP has appointed Sat Sharma as the working president of its Jammu and Kashmir unit. Dr. Nirmal Singh will lead the State Election Campaign Committee, with Sukhnandan Choudhary as vice president. Kavinder Gupta has been named the president of the State Election Management Committee.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh revealed that in September 2016, four Opposition MPs tried to meet with Hurriyat Conference leaders to discuss peace in Kashmir, but their request was denied. This is the first time the central government has confirmed such attempts during the unrest that followed the death of militant commander Burhan Wani.
The former Srinagar mayor and independent J&K assembly candidate, Junaid Azim Mattu, lashed out at the authorities for serving him with a notice to leave within 48 hours after he spoke on a conversion issue in Baramulla. He said the notice branded him a radical and wondered why his comments about the conversion of a young Muslim girl was controversial.
RS Pathania, BJP candidate for Udhampur East in J&K, thanked the party high command for the opportunity and expressed confidence in a BJP sweep in the upcoming elections.
