Bihar Assembly Elections 2025: Janshakti Janta Dal (JJD) Chief Tej Pratap Yadav, on Saturday (October 25, 2025), made bold claims asserting his power and dominance in Mahua ahead of the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. While speaking to the media, the Bihar politician announced his plans to build a cricket stadium in the town and arrange an India-Pakistan match there. He also made strong remarks on distancing himself from the RJD leadership.
“A cricket stadium will also be built in Mahua, and I will make sure an India vs Pakistan match is played. I have no competition in Mahua… JP Lohia, Karpuri Thakur, and Lalu Prasad Yadav, among other senior leaders, are ‘jannayak’. Tejashwi cannot be a jannayak because he has reached here because of my father… I am no longer in the lantern (RJD)… I am not greedy for any post. If I am offered anything in the RJD, I will reject it. I will never form an alliance with anyone,” Tej Pratap Yadav, who was expelled from Rashtriya Janata Dal earlier this year, said.

Earlier on Friday, Tej Pratap Yadav ruled out any possibility of an alliance with RJD or plans of returning to the party. “I am not hungry for power. Principles and self-respect are supreme for me,” he said. After launching his own political party, the Janshakti Janta Dal (JJD), the Bihar politician is contesting elections from Mahua, the seat from where he marked his electoral debut in 2015.
“I have been attached to this constituency since much before I entered politics,” he said while dismissing the challenge from sitting RJD MLA Mukesh Raushan. “People tell me they have nobody to turn to for help now.”
On his younger brother Tejashwi being declared the INDIA bloc’s chief ministerial candidate, Tej Pratap said, “It is a politician’s trait to make announcements of various kinds. But power is enjoyed only by one who gets the people’s blessings.”
