Jharkhand Tragedy: Bus Carrying Kanwariyas Collides With Truck In Deoghar; 18 Dead, Says BJP MP Nishikant Dubey

The devotees were travelling in a bus when a truck loaded with a gas cylinder collided with their vehicle. The incident occurred around 4:30 am on Tuesday near the Jamuniya forest, under the jurisdiction of Mohanpur Police Station.

In a tragic accident in Jharkhand’s Deoghar district, a bus carrying Kanwariyas collided with a gas cylinder-laden truck on Tuesday. According to BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, the collision claimed the lives of at least 18 Kanwariyas and left several others injured. Casualties may increase as the condition of several injured is said to be critical.

The Godda MP took to his X account to express grief over the loss of lives, stating, “In my Lok Sabha constituency of Deoghar, during the Kanwar Yatra in the month of Shravan, 18 devotees lost their lives due to a bus and truck accident. May Baba Baidyanath Ji grant strength to their families to bear this grief.”

PM Modi condoled the death of the Kanwariyas in the Deoghar road accident, stating, “The road accident that occurred in Deoghar, Jharkhand, is extremely tragic. I express my deepest condolences to the families of the devotees who lost their lives in this incident. May God grant them the strength to bear this pain. Along with this, I pray for the speedy recovery of all the injured.”

Reports say the incident occurred around 4:30 am on Tuesday near the Jamuniya forest, under the jurisdiction of Mohanpur Police Station. Earlier, SK Sinha, Zonal IG, Santhal Pargana, told ANI, “Five Kavariyas died in a road accident as their bus collided with a truck. Several others were injured. More details awaited.”

Meanwhile, the Deoghar Deputy Commissioner confirmed, “6 died and 24 injured, of which 8 pilgrims are under treatment at AIIMS, and the remaining pilgrims are under treatment at Sadar Hospital: DC Deoghar.”

On the tragic road accident, JMM spokesperson Manoj Pandey said, “As per my knowledge, 4-5 people have died in the incident. The government has taken cognisance of the reasons behind this incident and who is responsible for it. The accountability will be determined once the described report comes out…The government will make proper arrangements to prevent such an incident from recurring. The government stands with the affected families.”
