Jharkhand: On Teachers’ Day in Dhanbad, a shocking incident occurred involving a teacher and a student at Sindri College. A Guru allegedly demanded an unusual ‘Guru Dakshina’ (gift from a student to a teacher) during the enrollment process. Instead of traditional gifts, the teacher asked for ‘Pyar Ki Mithai’ (Sweet of Love) from the student, which led to a commotion.
The incident unfolded when a student arrived at Sindri College on Teacher’s Day to enroll in BA first semester. Professor Surendra Yadav, who was handling the enrollment, reportedly asked for sweets from the student as Guru Dakshina. The student agreed, but the professor made a peculiar request, specifying that he wanted “sweets of love” rather than store-bought sweets.
The student was taken aback and later informed her family about the incident. Her family then contacted Bajrang Dal workers, who went to the college and created a disturbance on the campus. A formal complaint was lodged by the student at Sindri police station.

Professor Surendra Yadav, however, denied the allegations, claiming that he had not made any objectionable comments. He filed a counter-complaint at Sindri police station, accusing Bajrang Dal workers of assaulting him.
College Principal Dr. KK Pathak assured that the matter would be thoroughly investigated by the women’s cell of the college. He emphasized that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty after the investigation.
A complaint was registered on behalf of the victim student and the accused professor at Sindri police station. Both parties were expected to be questioned by the police, and further action would be determined based on the investigation’s findings.
