Jharkhand: A shocking and bizarre incident was reported from Dhanbad where a private school principal was accused of ‘forcing’ 80 girls of Class 10 to return to their homes without shirts, with only blazers on.
The students celebrated ‘Pen Day’ in school and wrote messages on each other’s shirts on the last day of school. Following this, the principal ordered them to take off their shirts before heading home.
According to Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Madhvi Mishra, the incidents took place in a prestigious school within Jorapokhar police station limits on Friday.
The students’ parents told DC that their children were sent back home without shirts even though they apologized to him. However, the accused principal refuted the allegations made against him.
Following the incident, a committee consisting of the sub-divisional magistrate, district education officer, district social welfare officer, and the sub-divisional police officer was set up. Police have launched a thorough investigation into the matter.
Jharia MLA Ragini Singh who accompanied the parents to the DC’s office to file complain against the principal described the incident as ‘shameful and unfortunate.’
