Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024 Phase 1 LIVE Updates: Voting for Phase 1 of the Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024 has begun today. 43 of the state’s 81 seats are being contested. Polling had started at 7 am and will continue until 5 pm across 15 districts.
The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has fielded 23 candidates, while its allies – Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) – have nominated 17 and 5 candidates, respectively.
The opposition BJP has put forward 36 candidates, and the Janata Dal United (JDU) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) have fielded 2 and 7 candidates, respectively.
Notably, Voting at 950 booths in naxal affected areas will end by 4 pm. According to the Jharkhand Election Commission, the largest assembly seat, area-wise is Manika and the smallest is Ranchi. In terms of voters, the largest constituency is Hatia and the smallest is Jaganathpur. Jamshedpur West have the highest no. of candidates in the election fray.
The remaining Jharkhand constituencies will go to polls in the second Phase on November 20, with counting of votes on November 23.

Jharkhand: PM Modi will be addressing a public rally in Deoghar's Sarath today. A BJP member, who is at the venue of the rally, said, "We walked 2 km on foot to reach here to listen to PM Modi."
Meanwhile, another BJP member said, "Modi ji has given respect to women. He has given women, houses, gas cylinders, insurance, benefits of ration card."

Jharkhand Assembly Elections Phase-1 recorded 29.31% voter turnout till 11 am, the Election Commission of India said.

Voter turnout for Phase 1 stands at 13.03% as of 9 am. Among the constituencies voting today, Simdega is leading at 15.09% while East Singhbhum ranked at the bottom of the list.
