A fire broke out at NICU ward of Jhansi Medical College. At least 10 infants lost their life and several suffered injuries. Fire engulfed the ward last night due to which infants lost their life. This incident has sent shockwaves across the country. The team has been formed to investigate the incident at Jhansi Medical College.
According to media reports fire extinguishers installed at medical college have been expired a year or couple years ago.
Samajwadi Party Leader Chandra Pal Singh Yadav On The Incident
Samajwadi Party leader Dr. Chandra Pal Singh Yadav called this incident painful. He said that this happened because of the carelessness of the medical college administration.

He further added that, “It is being said that there was a short circuit in the afternoon as well but it was overlooked. Had it been taken seriously, this incident could have been avoided. There should be strict action against people who are responsible for this”.
“Fire Safety Audit Was Done…” Says UP Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak
Brajesh Pathak said that, “In February, the fire safety audit was done. In June, a mock drill was also done. How this incident happened and why it happened, we can only say something about it once the probe report comes…7 bodies of the newborns have been identified, 3 bodies haven’t been identified yet…financial support will be provided to the families of newborns.

Chief Medical Superintendent Sachin Mahor On The Incident
Speaking to ANI, Chief Medical Superintendent Sachin Mahor says, The fire broke out due to a short circuit between 10.30-10.45 pm yesterday. There were 49 babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). 39 were rescued and 10 babies died. As of now, all the rescued babies are stable. The bodies of 3 babies are yet to be identified, the process of identifying them is underway so that the bodies can be handed over to their parents…”
