An 18-year-old IIT-JEE Aspirant died by suicide after jumping in front of a train in Rajasthan’s Kota, the police said. Since January, the city reported ten cases of death by suicide. The deceased has been identified as Ujjawal Mishra, a native of Kanpur.
DSP Shankar Lal said Ujjawal had to visit Lucknow to write his exam which has to take place on April 2. His examination centre was allotted in Lucknow, according to PTI.
The police said Ujjawal was residing in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar area of the city. He was preparing for JEE at a coaching institute.
Ujjawal left home at around 6:30 pm from his hostel and reached Kota railway station. According to the train pilot, Ujjawal saw the train approaching him, he laid down on the tracks and got run over.
The train pilot said he did not get time to stop the train. He alerted the government railway police about the incident. The police did not find any suicide note in Ujjawal’s possession.
Ujjawal’s father, Deepak Mishra, said he did not witness any sign of distress in Ujjawal. He did not share that he was facing any trouble, Deepak Mishra added.
