New Delhi: On Monday, members of various parties in Parliament raised the issue of the death of three students due to flooding in the basement of a coaching institute in the capital. They demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and strict action against the responsible officials. During the discussion on this issue, Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan from the Samajwadi Party became emotional. Jaya Bachchan said that she was deeply saddened; while everyone paid tribute to the students, no one thought about their families.

Jaya Bachchan mentioned that she still remembers the Nirbhaya case and has not forgotten the anguish from that incident. She said that after many years, she is witnessing such a discussion again. Today, she stands here as a mother and a grandmother, deeply saddened by the distressing incident in Delhi. She emphasized that there should be no politics surrounding this painful event. During her speech, Jaya Bachchan’s eyes were filled with tears.

She acknowledged everyone’s expressions and remarked that everyone is just shifting blame. She stated that they are here to discuss public issues and should do so with honesty and intelligence. She mentioned that there is talk about MCD and NDMC, with some pointing fingers in different directions, but ultimately, the fault lies with all of us.
She mentioned that when she came to Delhi before taking the oath, her house was flooded with water up to the knees. The agencies responsible for maintaining MPs’ homes do not ensure quality. We remain silent and do not speak up. During this, she also expressed her admiration for Sudhanshu Trivedi, praising his language.
