Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor on Tuesday, for the first time, publicly reacted to the results of the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. He said that the JSP made an honest effort, but it was completely unsuccessful. Kishor emphasised that there is no harm in accepting the party’s defeat and its failure to win even a single seat. However, he asserted that despite the loss, the JSP played a significant role in shaping Bihar’s politics this time.
I take that responsibility 100% on myself: Prashant Kishor
Addressing a press conference, Kishor stated that he takes full responsibility for party’s poor performance in the Bihar elections, stating, “He could not win the faith of people.” He assured that he will continue to work hard and put all his energy in the interest of state’s development. Kishor refuted the speculations of backing down, asserting that there is no turning back on his resolve to make Bihar “better.”
“We made an honest effort, but it was completely unsuccessful. There’s no harm in admitting this. Forget about systemic change; we couldn’t even bring about a change in power. But we certainly played some role in changing Bihar’s politics…There must have been some mistake in our efforts, in our thinking, in the way we explained that the public had not elected us. If the public did not show faith in us, then the responsibility for that is completely mine. I take that responsibility 100% on myself, that I could not win the faith of the people of Bihar,” Kishor said.

PK to observe a day-long silent fast
Taking responsibility for the failure, Kishor said that he was unable to explain to the people of Bihar the basis on which they should vote and why they should support the creation of a new system. As an act of atonement, he announced observe a day-long silent fast at the Gandhi Bhitiharwa Ashram on November 20. While admitting that the party may have made mistakes, he stressed that the JSP did not commit crime of caste-based poison in society.
“We may have made mistakes, but we have not committed any crime. We have not committed the crime of spreading caste-based poison in society. We have not played Hindu-Muslim politics in Bihar. We have not committed the crime of dividing people in the name of religion. We have not committed the crime of giving money to the poor, innocent people of Bihar and buying their votes…” Kishor added.
