Jammu’s Suchetgarh Border Closed After Pahalgam Attack; India Escalates Diplomatic Pressure On Pakistan

In the aftermath of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people—including 25 tourists and one local in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baisaran valley, India has enacted a series of stringent measures targeting Pakistan.

People now cannot visit the India-Pakistan border at Suchetgarh in Jammu. Border Security Force (BSF) established an Octroi Post closure at Suchetgarh following deadly terror operations that reduced the Pahalgam death toll to 26 people.

The BSF announced that they had reduced the activities during the retreat ceremonies which occurred at three sites across the India-Pakistan border in Punjab. The fourth security exercise occurs at Suchetgarh Border. The India International Boundary extends southward from Jammu until it passes through Punjab then through Rajasthan and Gujarat.

The steps demonstrated India’s deep anxieties about border attacks while confirming that peace becomes impossible while a nation continues provoking its neighbors. A terrorist strike hit Baisaran valley where 25 tourists alongside one resident lost their lives. The valley served as Pahalgam’s ‘mini-Switzerland’ territory.

The terrorist attack caused a major deterioration in India-Pakistan diplomatic relations because New Delhi blamed Islamabad for enabling cross-border terrorist activities while launching an aggressive diplomatic response.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Thursday that his government will track down every terrorist operative and their conspiring sources to ensure punishment. He declared that India would continue their pursuit as far as Earth’s edges. The law enforcement agencies have established identification of three terrorist suspects.

The government of India ordered a termination of the water-sharing agreement while simultaneously ordering Attari border closure and performing diplomatic downgrading as well as Pakistani visa revocation. A key conference regarding the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 with Pakistan will be held today by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
