Jammu and Kashmir: At least two terrorist associates were arrested by a team of joint security forces in the DK Pora area of Shopian city in Jammu & Kashmir on Monday. The Indian Army's 34RR SOG Shopian and CRPF 178 Bn have recovered arms, ammunition, and grenades from their possession. During the search, 2 pistols, 4 grenades, 43 live rounds, and other incriminating materials were seized, the Shopian Police said. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the matter, and further probe is ongoing.

Earlier on May 6, 2025, two terrorist associates were also arrested with heavy arms and ammunition in J&K's Budgam district, days after the Pahalgam attack on April 22, which claimed 26 innocent lives. During a naka checking operation, the terrorist associates were held at Buchpora town on the outskirts of Srinagar. Indian Security forces recovered one pistol and a grenade, and 15 live rounds from them.

Meanwhile, on May 18, the Indian Army, in close coordination with local police authorities, successfully conducted a controlled operation for the safe destruction of 42 unexploded shells in the border areas of Jhullas, Salotri, Dharati, and Salani of Poonch District. These shells, remnants of recent cross-border shelling, posed a serious threat to the lives and safety of local residents. The operation was carried out with utmost precision, adhering to all standard safety protocols to prevent any risk to civilian life or property.
