Two Soldiers, Two Terrorists Killed In Kulgam Encounter; One Identified As Pakistani LeT Commander

The encounter broke out during 'Operation Guddar,' which was launched based on specific intelligence inputs regarding terrorist activity in the Guddar forest.

Two Indian Army soldiers lost their lives and another was injured following an intense encounter with terrorists in the Guddar area of Kulgam district on Monday. The soldiers succumbed to their injuries after being critically wounded in the gunfight that erupted during a joint search operation.

The deceased soldiers have been identified as Subedar Prabhat Gaur and Lance Naik Narender Sindhu. The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army took to the micro-blogging platform X to honor their sacrifice, stating, “Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of the Bravehearts, Sub Perbhat Gaur and L/Nk Narender Sindhu, in line of duty for the Nation. Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us.” The Army expressed its deepest condolences and solidarity with the bereaved families while confirming that operations in the area are ongoing.

The encounter broke out during ‘Operation Guddar,’ which was launched based on specific intelligence inputs regarding terrorist activity in the Guddar forest. A joint team comprising the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) initiated the operation after spotting suspicious movements in the area. Upon being challenged, the terrorists opened fire, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.

Officials reported that two terrorists were neutralized during the anti-terrorist operation. Initial reports suggest that one of the slain terrorist was a local operative, while the other is believed to be a foreigner known by the code name of ‘Rehman Bhai.’

Top police officials said, operation is still underway in the areas, as there could be one more terrorist hiding in the area.
