J&K: Two Dead, 42 Injured After Bus Plunges Into Gorge In Mendhar

Block Medical Officer (BMO) Mendhar, Dr Ashfaq Ahmad confirmed the casualties and stated that two people were brought dead while 42 others sustained injuries.

Poonch: In a tragic incident, two passengers were killed and 42 others injured after a bus skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in the Ghani area of Mendhar. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning and was reported from Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir. The injured were rescued and rushed to sub-district hospital in Mendhar. It is being told that the bus with registration number JK02X-1671, was going from Ghani village to Mendhar when the driver reportedly lost control around 9.20 am. Following the accident, two died on the spot, while 42 passengers were left injured.

Block Medical Officer (BMO) Mendhar, Dr Ashfaq Ahmad confirmed the casualties and stated that two people were brought dead while 42 others sustained injuries. He further added that the critically injured have been referred to GMC Rajouri for advanced treatment. The deceased have been identified as 45-year-old Mohammad Majeed from Ghani and 60-year-old Noor Hussain from Kasblari.

Local residents, police, the Indian Army, and CRPF personnel reached the spot and carried the rescue operation. Police have initiated investigation into the case.
