Jammu And Kashmir: Two Cops Found Dead, One Injured In Udhampur; Police Suspect Fratricide

Police suspect that the two police personnel died after opening fire on each other. They used an AK-47 rifle in the incident.

Jammu And Kashmir: Two Police personnel died and one was injured on Sunday in an incident of alleged fratricide and suicide in the Rehambal area of Udhampur district. The cops were en route from Sopore towards STC Talwara in a departmental vehicle, when they suffered bullet injuries from firing.

According to SSP Udhampur Amod Nagpure, further investigations are underway to trace the truth behind this incident. The bullet-riddled bodies of the policemen were spotted lying inside a police van in front of Kali Mata Temple around 6.30 am, the officials said.

“The incident occurred at 6.30 am. They were going from Sopore towards the training center in Talwara. Police officers have arrived at the spot. According to the initial investigation, it has been proven that an AK-47 rifle was used in the incident. Two Police personnel have died. One is safe. They will be taken to GMC Udhampur for postmortem and other medical procedures,” the SSP said.
