Kathua, Jammu-Kashmir: In a tragic incident, Six people were killed and four others were injured after a massive fire broke out at a house in Shiva Nagar on Wednesday. According to Kathua GMC Principal, SK Atri, the incident took place in a rented house of a retired assistant matron.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the cause of the death was suffocation. There were a total of ten people, out of which 6 died and 4 sustained severe injuries. Bodies will be released after the post-mortem examination, Police said. An investigation into the matter is underway.

In another similar tragedy, a massive fire broke out in the forested area of Chenab Valley in Jammu & Kashmir’s Doda district on Tuesday (December 17, 2024). Visuals of the incident circulating on social media showed large flames engulfing a huge area. The cause of the fire remains unclear, officials said.
In yet another incident last Saturday, three houses were set ablaze after a massive fire broke out at Bhargi Gandoh Bhalesa in Doda. The firefighting operations were carried out shortly to bring the fire under control. However, no casualties or injuries were reported. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
