An earthquake shook Kargil in Jammu and Kashmir at 7:22 am today, causing chaos in the area as people rushed out of their homes. The National Seismology Centre estimated the intensity at 4.3 on the Richter scale, with no reports of casualties.

Jammu and Kashmir is frequently experiencing earthquake
In the past few days, Jammu and Kashmir has experienced recurring earthquakes. On May 1, a midnight earthquake was felt in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale. The National Seismology Centre reported the earthquake occurring at 1:33 am on Wednesday night. Despite this, there were no reports of damage or casualties from the earthquake at that time.

Kagil experienced the phenomenon on 19th April too
Earthquake tremors struck Kargil and Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir on the morning of April 19. The earthquake measured 3.0 on the Richter scale at that time. The frequent earthquakes in Jammu and Kashmir have caused panic among the people. On the night of April 18, earthquake tremors were also felt in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale.
