Jammu And Kashmir Attack: Police Release Sketches Of 4 Terrorists, Offers ₹20 Lakh Reward

The Jammu and Kashmir Police released sketches of four terrorists linked to two attacks in Doda district and announced a ₹20 lakh reward for information leading to their arrest.

On Wednesday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police released sketches of four terrorists linked to two attacks in Doda district and announced a ₹20 lakh reward for information leading to their arrest.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police reported that terrorists fired on a search team in a village in the Gandoh area at 7:41 pm. Security forces fired back, with the shooting occurring in the Kota top area of Bhalesa. When last reported, both sides were still engaged in firing. Officials said reinforcements have been sent to the area to strengthen the cordon.

The injured cop, Constable Fareed Ahmed, was with the Special Operations Group (SOG) in Gandoh. The clash happened just hours after militants attacked a checkpost in the region, injuring six officials, including five jawans.

Late Tuesday night, terrorists attacked a joint checkpost in the upper Chattergalla area on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot road, injuring five Rashtriya Rifles troopers and a special police officer (SPO). Following the attack, traffic on the highway was halted as an operation to find the terrorists began.

The recent clash happened in Gandoh Bhalessa town in Doda district, and additional troops have been sent to the scene. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police released sketches of four suspected terrorists believed to be in the upper areas of Bhaderwah, Thathri, and Gandoh. They have also offered a Rs 5 lakh reward for information on these terrorists.

Officials reported that after terrorists opened fire at the checkpost in the Chattergalla area late Tuesday night, a fierce gunfight ensued for several hours. The five injured Rashtriya Rifles personnel and an SPO were taken to a nearby hospital. Additional security personnel were sent to the area to intensify the operation against the terrorists.

Officials have completely suspended traffic on the busy Bhadarwah-Pathankot interstate highway due to the ongoing search and cordon operation in Chattergalla, Guldandi, Sarthal, Shankh Pader, and the Kailash mountain range. ADGP Anand Jain told PTI that the ‘hostile’ neighbor, referring indirectly to Pakistan, is constantly trying to disrupt peace in the Jammu region.

Authorities launched a search and cordon operation in the Kalal area of the Nowshera sector in Rajouri district after spotting suspicious movement by two people. Security forces are on high alert due to intelligence reports warning of possible terrorist attacks, especially in the Poonch and Rajouri districts.
