Jammu And Kashmir Assembly Election 2024: Today, the BJP released a list of 44 candidates for the three-phase election for 90 Assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir but removed it shortly after. Sources say a new list will be released soon.
The deleted list lacked three important names: Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina, former Deputy Chief Ministers Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta. It did include Devendra Rana, the brother of Union minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, who recently left the National Conference.

BJP Released List This Morning
On Monday, the BJP announced its first list of 44 candidates for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. The announcement was made during a meeting at the BJP headquarters on Sunday, August 25, which was attended by major leaders including PM Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Rajnath Singh, and members of the Central Election Committee.
Voting in Jammu and Kashmir will take place in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1, with vote counting scheduled for October 4. This will be the first assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir since the removal of Article 370.

According to BJP sources, the party plans to contest 60-70 assembly seats in this election. After delimitation, the number of seats in Jammu and Kashmir increased from 83 to 90. While the total number of seats in the state is 114, elections will not be held for 24 seats in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
BJP Plans Rallies For Jammu And Kashmir Assembly Election 2024
Top BJP leaders plan to hold 7-8 rallies in Jammu and Kashmir for this election. The party has decided not to form alliances with other parties but will support independent candidates in areas where they do not have candidates.
The last assembly elections in the state were in 2014 when the BJP and PDP formed a coalition government. This government collapsed in 2018, leading to six months of Governor’s rule, followed by President’s rule in the state.
