In a tragic incident that has shaken the local community, three army soldiers lost their lives and three others sustained critical injuries after their vehicle skidded off the Bandipora-Srinagar road and plunged into a deep gorge in the SK Payeen area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
According to officials, the accident occurred when the army vehicle veered off the road, leading to a harrowing situation for the six soldiers on board. Immediate medical assistance was provided, and the injured were rushed to the district hospital in Bandipora. Unfortunately, two of the soldiers were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
As efforts continued to stabilize the remaining injured personnel, three critically wounded soldiers were transferred to Srinagar for advanced medical treatment. Tragically, one of these soldiers succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital. Earlier in the day, another injured soldier had been referred to Sumbal hospital for further care.
The incident has raised concerns about road safety in the region, particularly for military convoys navigating challenging terrain. Local authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
