In Jaipur, Rajasthan, a fire erupted in a house after an AC explosion, causing the tragic deaths of a husband and wife from suffocation. The victims were Praveen Verma, an interior designer, and his wife Renu, a retired bank manager. The police, who arrived after being informed, took the bodies for post-mortem and notified their son in Thailand about the incident.
The incident occurred in Ram Gali Colony No. 7, Jawahar Nagar, Jaipur. On Saturday evening, Praveen Verma and his wife Renu were sleeping with the AC on when a short circuit caused it to burst into flames. Neighbors saw the fire and alerted the fire brigade. Firefighters broke the house’s glass to start the rescue operation.
When we entered the house, it was filled with thick black smoke, making it difficult to see anything. During the search, we found the wife unconscious on one side and the husband on the other side near the bed. We immediately took them to the hospital, but it was too late; the doctors declared them both dead.
According to reports, a fire started in a room of the house due to an AC short circuit, completely burning the items inside to ashes. Praveen Verma, 65, and his wife Renu Verma, 60, died from smoke inhalation. Their only son, Harshit Verma, a doctor in Thailand, lives abroad with his wife. The police have notified him, and the couple’s bodies will be released only after he arrives.
