New Delhi: Post the ‘successful’ Opposition meeting in Bengaluru today, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Tuesday said that it is a fight between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the whole nation.
Gandhi said during the discussion with all the parties gathered against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), we asked ourselves whom are we fighting against and whose fight it actually is.
“We asked ourselves who is the fight in between. We realised it’s not between two political formations but the fight to fight to defend the idea of India,” said the former chief of Congress.
After the second meeting of the Opposition parties today in Karnataka, the name of the alliance was declared i.e. I-N-D-I-A. The title stands for Indian National Democratic Inclusive Alliance.
“This is not a fight between Opposition and NDA. The nation’s voice is being opressed, which is why this name was chosen. It’s a fight between India and Narendra Modi,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi further launched an attack at PM Modi saying, “The idea of INDIA is being attacked today by the BJP ideology. The wealth of India is being snatched away from milliions of Indians and being handed over to a few business people who are close to BJP and PM. Unemployment is spreading, prices are rising and this is what the fight is about.”
He further said, “You know what happens to anybody who opposes the idea of India or try to fight it. You can look at the history and know who is going to win the fight.”
The face of I-N-D-I-A is likely to be announced in Mumbai
On a question regarding the face of the ‘I-N-D-I-A,’ Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge informed that a Cordination committee of 11 people will be formed who will make the decision through a brief consultation.
The next meeting of the Opposition will be held in Mumbai but the date has not been decided.
