An ITBP bus, used for transporting security personnel, plunged into the Sindh River in the Kullan area of Ganderbal district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday during heavy rainfall. Initial reports indicate the bus was carrying several weapons, which are now reported missing. A joint search and rescue operation, led by SDRF Ganderbal and SDRF Sub Component Gund, is ongoing in the river. Three weapons have been recovered on Wednesday.
Rescue teams from SDRF units based in Gund and Ganderbal were deployed. Video footage released by SDRF shows personnel using ropes and rescue gear to retrieve the vehicle from the fast-flowing river. No casualties have been reported yet.
Reports say that the bus earmarked for ferrying troops of the ITBP slipped into the River Sind while negotiating a curve. According to Ganderbal Police, the driver met with minor injuries and is stable.

The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been repeatedly closed due to landslides and debris. Separately, a landslide on the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage route in Katra killed one person and injured nine others.
