ISRO’s 101st Space Mission: PSLV-C61/EOS-09 To Launch On May 18 With Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar For All-Weather Earth Observation

PSLV-C61 represents the 63rd mission of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle and the 27th using its PSLV-XL variant.

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is going to launch PSLV-C61/EOS-09 mission on May 18, 2025. This will be the 101st launch of ISRO.

The video os PSLV-C61 / EOS-09 was shared by ISRO on their X handle. ISRO mentioned, “Watch this timelapse of PSLV-C61 / EOS-09 – marking ISRO’s 101st launch -as PSLV is moved from the Payload Integration Facility (PIF) to the Mobile Service Tower (MST) at SDSC-SHAR, Sriharikota for further integration. A step closer to launch on 18 May at 5:59 IST!”

According to ISRO, “India is set to achieve a significant milestone with the 101st mission of its space programme. On 18 May 2025 at 05:59 AM IST, ISRO will launch EOS-09 aboard the PSLV-C61 from the First Launch Pad (FLP) at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, SHAR. The mission will place the Earth Observation Satellite into a Sun Synchronous Polar Orbit (SSPO) .”

PSLV-C61 represents the 63rd mission of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle and the 27th using its PSLV-XL variant. This launch further reinforces the PSLV’s reputation for consistently reliable performance in deploying diverse payloads into various orbits.

ISRO shared specifications of the vehicle, which are as follows:

  • Height: 44.5 meters
  • Lift-off Mass: 321 tonnes
  • Configuration: Four-stage with six solid strap-on boosters

According to ISRO, “EOS-09 is designed to provide continuous and reliable remote sensing data for operational applications across various sectors.”
